                                 Every kayak owner should be familiar with the following—

Kayak owners are responsible for their own safety and cannot hold any individual or club liable for their safety .

Reccommended safety norms are that the paddler has the minimum safety requirements as per the above SAMSA list above  , over and above this minimum there is also a paddle leash and cellphone that he may carry .

Practice self rescue techniques so that you know how too remount your kayak .

Paddle in groups and stay together if you get into trouble

Let someone know before you go out where you intend going and how long you are staying out.

Adopt a trip length that is suited to your proficiency.

Check all your equipment before leaving.

Carry extra fluids , suntan cream,hat and warm clothing .
